The upcoming Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again has had its production paused for an indefinite period of time.
Deadline is reporting that production on Daredevil: Born Again has been paused three months into shooting until the ongoing writers’ strike is resolved. Though the series has shut down production temporarily on a few different occasions due to the strike, it seems that it is now paused until after it is resolved.
Daredevil: Born Again is described as an 18-episode revival of the original, which ran for three seasons. It will feature the return of leading stars Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio, as they reprise their respective roles as Matt Murdock/Daredevil and Wilson Fisk/Kingpin.
Both characters made their Marvel Cinematic Universe debuts in 2021. Kingpin guest-starred in the Disney+ Hawkeye series, and Matt Murdock briefly appeared in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Cox also guest-starred in two episodes of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, where he showed off a lighter side of the hero.
In addition to Cox and D’Onofrio, the Daredevil revival will also see the long-awaited return of Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/Punisher. Joining them are Sandrine Holt as Vanessa Fisk, Michael Gandolfini, Margarita Levieva, Michael Gaston, Nikki M. James, and Arty Froushan.
Daredevil: Born Again hails from head writers Matt Corman and Chris Ord, who will also serve as executive producers along with Kevin Feige. The series is currently set to premiere in the spring of 2024 on Disney+.
