Sony will release a PlayStation 5 Slim hardware revision later this year, according to court documents for the Microsoft v. FTC trial, which have revealed plenty of other information.
According to the document, which can be checked out in full here, Sony is expected to release a slim hardware revision of its current generation console later this year for the current price of the Digital Edition, $399.99. In the following paragraph of the document, it is also highlighted how a Pro model is expected to launch as well in the future.
The information revealed in the document regarding a PlayStation 5 Slim hardware revision is hardly surprising, considering Sony always released slimmed-down revisions of its consoles since the days of the original PlayStation. As the new model is supposedly releasing this year, it likely won't take long for the Japanese company to reveal its design and any feature that will set it apart from the currently available models.
According to rumors, what will set this supposed PlayStation 5 Slim model will be compatibility with a detachable disc drive which, sadly, will not be compatible with current models. No matter what is currently in the works, the next few months will be quite interesting regarding new hardware, as Sony is also working on a new Remote Play-focused handheld, Project Q, which should also release before the end of the year.
