The Epic Games Store gives out free games on a weekly basis, and the program is continuing in 2022. Every Thursday at the same time--8 AM PT / 11 AM ET--Epic gives up between one and three free games. You merely need to create a free Epic account and enable two-factor authentication to start snagging freebies. At this point, Epic has given away well over 100 free games, and there's no sign that the program will stop any time soon. We keep this article up to date weekly to highlight both the current free games and next week's offerings.
From now until February 3 at 8 AM PT / 11 AM ET, you can snag Daemon X Machina for free on the Epic Games Store. Daemon X Machina originally released on Nintendo Switch in 2019 before being ported to PC in 2020. Director Kenichiro previously worked on the Armored Core series, so it makes sense that Daemon X Machina very much looks like a spiritual successor. This mech game is set in a post-apocalyptic world where evil robots are threatening world domination. Your job is to defend Earth using a suite of abilities and weapons. Daemon X Machina has an online co-op for up to four players.
Starting February 3, you can claim Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair, a charming side-scrolling platformer that originally released in 2019. The original Yooka-Laylee was underwhelming as an homage to old-school 3D platformers, but Impossible Lair is a fun and well-designed 2.5D platformer that's definitely worth checking out. This is the second time Epic has offered this game for free, though. You may have already claimed it back in late 2019.
We're keeping a running list of every free game that Epic users have been able to claim in the past. From AAA hits to indie darlings, Epic has really made its mark
