A new Cyberpunk 2077 mod shared online a few days back further improves the game's visuals with ray tracing and path tracing with a simple yet very effective tweak.
The Disable Fake Lights mod, which can be downloaded from Nexus Mods, does exactly what its name suggests. It disables all fake lights in the game, such as light emitted from advertising billboards, which are not required with ray tracing and path tracing, and lights attached to things like doors and windows, which break the visuals with path tracing. Without these fake lights, not only does the game look better with ray tracing and path tracing, but it is also more realistic, as seen in a set of four comparison screenshots.
It's great to see how modders are continuing to improve Cyberpunk 2077, as developer CD Projekt Red, after a slew of excellent updates that massively improved the game in pretty much every way, has moved onto the development of its sequel. In its current state, the game is among the best open-world RPGs ever released, made even better by the excellent Phantom Liberty expansion, which adds, among other things, a brand new ending for the main story. You can learn more about the game and its expansion by checking out Alessio's review.
