The first image of Crysis 4 has seemingly been posted by an official Crytek social media account in China.
As spotted by Eurogamer, the message appeared on Crytek’s official account on Chinese site BiliBili and shows a helmet lying on the ground.
The Chinese text on the image roughly translates to “Crysis series part 4”.
The accompanying message also confirms that the image is from Crysis 4.
It reads: “Xiao C delivers a big New Year’s gift for the Year of the Tiger: making a comeback, the tiger will grow stronger! Project Crysis 4 confirmed, opening up a new nano battlefield!
“Follow @Crytek_official to keep up with the latest news, and tell us what you’re looking forward to in your lifetime in the comments section!”
Crytek released the Crysis Remastered Trilogy in October 2021, which bundled new remasters of Crysis 2 and Crysis 3 with the existing remaster of the first game.
The first Crysis Remastered featured new lighting, updated assets, ray traced reflections and 8K textures.
A next-gen patch later introduced performance, quality and full ray tracing modes for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 (PC supported full ray tracing at release).
Earlier this month, Crytek threatened to take legal action against a popular PC photo mode modder unless he removed a pair of Crysis mods.
Frans Bouma said he’d been forced to remove two photo mode mods for the remastered versions of Crysis 2 and Crysis 3 after a takedown request from game creator Crytek.
In a Reddit post, a Crytek community manager said the cease and desist letter sent to Bouma “led to a misunderstanding, and we have apologised to the modder for this”.
