The Concord open beta has come and gone, receiving a rather tepid response on Steam. Nevertheless, Firewalk Studios is forging ahead and recently confirmed 12 maps at launch, hundreds of customization items and no battle pass.
However, for those concerned about leavers (as noted in our beta impressions), the developer is exploring a “variety of methods”, including a leaver penalty system. The objective is to ensure “complete and evenly matched teams” while ensuring players stick with them throughout. While it hasn’t confirmed anything, Firewalk says, “Stay tuned for more updates.” Hopefully, it’s also looking into join-in-progress for uneven matches.
As for Variants, alternate versions of Freegunners with differing passives, the developer confirmed “multiple unique” options for the whole roster. They’re unlocked through regular progression and completing weekly Variant Unlock Jobs.
Finally, for those wondering about the Galactic Guide (or lack thereof) during the beta, it’s accessible at launch. As players level up their accounts, more details about the setting and “narrative threads” for the characters.
Launching on August 23rd, Concord will be available for PS5 and PC.
