A rumor points out that the classic Namco fighting game SoulCalibur may be getting a remaster in the future. SoulCalibur has been a long-standing franchise in the Namco library, which first launched in 1998. While that was the series' first official foray, its actual roots date back to as early as 1995, as its predecessor Soul Edge made waves in the arcade scene. The series is known for its weapon-based fighting that could spiritually be comparable to Tekken, but with enough differences to separate the two titles.
Some fans already believe that SoulCalibur deserves a remaster because of how it innovated movement in 3D fighting games. The eight-way run system allowed players to simply move in any direction they choose. This gave the player the freedom to maneuver in any direction and created dynamic situations during each battle. Not only that, but the unique weapon-based gameplay introduced features such as Guard Impact, which worked as a parry of sorts and can shift momentum in the bout.
