Brie Larson has recently revealed that Carol Danvers will be stronger in Captain Marvel 2, which poses a massive problem for Avengers 5. While the hero's increased strength may sound exciting at first, Captain Marvel is already fairly overpowered compared to the rest of the MCU. Because of this, it will not only be hard to find a villain that would be a match for Danvers, but it would also negate the need for a team in Avengers 5.
First teased at the end of Avengers: Infinity War, Captain Marvel is one of the more recent additions to the MCU. The character is one of the series' most powerful superheroes, helping to end galactic wars and save entire planets in a snap. Although Captain Marvel was missing from the MCU between Captain Marvel (which takes place in the 1990s) and Avengers: Endgame, she is now active once again and ready to help save the galaxy.

Since her introduction, Captain Marvel's power level has always been an issue. She is inarguably the most powerful Avenger in the MCU, meaning most of the series' villains pose no threat to her. Consequently, increasing her strength even more in The Marvelsdoesn't make much sense. She is already massively overpowered and having her be even more so could serve as a threat to the structure of Avengers 5, as it's difficult to see how working within a team could be a benefit, as she can already take out most threats single-handedly. Having such a potent force fighting alongside the Avengers could make any other participants increasingly obsolete.
