Final Fantasy 9 remake looks more likely following Kingdom Hearts 4 announcement
Evidence of a Final Fantasy 9 remake is mounting following the announcement of Kingdom Hearts 4 on Sunday.
Kingdom Hearts 4 is the latest Square Enix game listed in the GeForce Now database leak to be confirmed as real, with only Final Fantasy 9 left as the sole title to be announced or trademarked by Square Enix.
A remake of Final Fantasy Tactics is also expected, following the news that Square Enix has trademarked “Tactics Ogre Reborn” in Japan.

The GeForce Now database leak revealed several unannounced Square Enix titles that would later be confirmed such as the PC version of Final Fantasy VII Remake and a remaster of Chrono Cross.
The same leak would reveal a PC version of God of War and Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves.
Nvidia confirmed at the time that the leaked Geforce Now database list containing God of War PC, Gears 6 and more is real, but it claimed that the games on it were “speculative”.
According to Windows Central, many of the Microsoft code names mentioned on the Nvidia database are related to actual projects, some of which have already been announced as real games such as Playground’s Fable reboot.
Final Fantasy 9 was released in 2000 for the PlayStation. It was directed by Hiroyuki Ito who would later direct Final Fantasy 12.
The game was re-released in 2010 as a PS1 Classic on the PS3, PSP and would later also come to the PlayStation Vita.
In 2016, the game, along with some minor graphical improvements, was released on PC and PS4.
It’s unclear when a potential Final Fantasy 9 remake could fit into Square Enix’s release schedule. It’s currently working on Final Fantasy 16, Kingdom Hearts 4, Forspoken, Final Fantasy VII
