Though posting lower numbers than previous titles, Call of Duty: Vanguard still took home the title of best-selling game of 2021, showing the franchise is still going strong. With Season 2 for both Call of Duty: Vanguard and Warzone starting recently and updates planned for the future, it appears support for the title is also continuing.
These future updates will come in the form of patches or DLC like the Call of Duty: Vanguard Welgun SMG, providing the game with fresh content through new weapons, buffs, nerfs, and potentially new maps. Perhaps the biggest game-changer among these is added guns, as new guns can drastically change the competitive multiplayer meta.

Recently, a new light machine gun was added to the game as DLC. Called the Whitley, the gun has a slow rate of fire but very high damage and little to no recoil, making for a constant stream of accurate fire comparable to a Call of Duty: Warzone unlimited ammo Death Machine. Reddit user Nezev3 shows off the capability of the new gun, cutting down five enemies in the span of a few seconds.
Nezev3 questioned whether the testers check new Call of Duty: Vanguard content, as they felt the gun was too powerful to have been released in its current form. Though a single sample is nothing to go by, the Whitley's lack of recoil and damage output do seem very strong. Another user reflected this sentiment, jokingly saying Nezev3 was wrong to assume the testers even looked at the gun before release.
