The esteemed creator of the Metal Gear seriesand Death Stranding, Hideo Kojima, recently revealed a number of references hidden in the opening of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. The 2015 title brought the franchise's famous tactical espionage action to large open-world environments. MGS 5 was his final installment in the Metal Gear series, and now Hideo Kojima is working on an experimental next game along with another widely-appealing AAA title.
Throughout his long career Hideo Kojima has directed a number of hugely successful games, each one bringing innovation and creativity to the table. The auteur's directorial debut, 1987's Metal Gear, practically created the stealth game genre by placing emphasis on avoiding and circumventing enemies rather than confronting them directly. 1998's Metal Gear Solid brought the franchise into a 3D space, allowing Kojima to deepen the franchise's tactical variety while also achieving a new quality of cinematic presentation. Metal Gear Solid V further expanded the franchises' stealth gameplay into a full-blown military operation simulator, and rumors suggest that a virtual reality PSVR 2 game from Hideo Kojima is currently in development.
