Anne Hathaway's impersonation of Lady Gaga in House of Gucci blew Jared Leto away. Directed by the incomparable Ridley Scott, the true-crime film premiered in theaters this past Thanksgiving and took in a box office haul of $152 million. Based on the 2001 book by Sara Gay Forden, the story follows Italian socialite Patrizia Reggiani (Lady Gaga), who plots the murder of her husband, Maurizio Gucci (Adam Driver), in order to take over control of the iconic fashion brand. In a nearly unrecognizable turn, Leto stars as Paolo Gucci, the one-time chief designer and vice-president of the fashion house.
After Gucci, Leto moved on to his next project, WeCrashed, in which he stars as Adam Neumann, co-founder of WeWork, alongside Hathaway as his wife Rebekah. Based on a Wondery podcast, the Apple TV+ limited series chronicles the greed-filled rise and inevitable fall of the real-estate startup. Once again, Leto is garnering praise for his capturing the spirit of a real-life figure, including Neumann's distinct Isreali accent. Other than its two Oscar-winning leads, WeCrashed also stars America Ferrera, Kyle Marvin, and O-T Fagbenle.
