Cyberpunk 2077 is a world saturated with guns. Gun stores are peppered throughout the map and every cyber-enhanced thug in Night City is packing some variety of weapon. It won’t be long into the game until the player is carrying an entire armory worth of guns in their inventory. But the player might not be ready for every gun in their arsenal.
Cyberpunk 2077 retains the weapon leveling system from CD Projekt Red’s previous game, The Witcher 3. This system means that no single weapon, be it silver sword or electric shotgun, lasts long before a newer, better one is found. Soon enough the player is carrying around not only the three highest level weapons they actually use, but a plethora of lower-level weapons that need sold or broken down for parts.

Rarely does a player come across a weapon that is too high a level for them. But it can happen if the player has neglected their «Body» stat throughout the game. The game does still allow players to equip and use these guns, however. This is what happened to Reddit user dejinerlaunda, when they found themselves with a shotgun they were ill-equipped to handle.
The clip shows the Reddit user clearing out a group of enemies with a new shotgun. The player then quickly realizes the gun is unsuitable as its high-level manifests in game as uncontrollable recoil and extremely slow reloading. They are then forced to abandon the new gun and switch to more reliable weapons to finish off the gang.
Most players will never find a gun too high-level for them in one playthrough of the game. The most common gun some players find too high level is fan favorite character Panam’s sniper rifle. Cyberpunk 2077 can often seem oversaturated with guns.
