Bungie Says Joining Sony Won't Stop It From "Standing Up For What's Right"
Sony has been catching heat over remarks by PlayStation boss Jim Ryan who reportedly sent an email to staff telling them to "respect differences of opinion" on abortion rights soon after plans to overturn Roe v. Wade were made public. It only got worse for PlayStation after Insomniac president Ted Price revealed that Sony won't "approve any statements" on reproductive rights after the studio pushed to make its own statement. Price claimed that Insomniac "fought hard for this and we did not win."
Because of this stance, many turned their heads towards Bungie, the first video game developer to speak out in support of women's rights to choose. It was announced earlier this year that Bungie will be acquired by Sony, so many began wondering if the developer might be restricted from making statements on social media in the future. One of these individuals was YouTuber Skill Up, who was worried Sony might "put a muzzle on Bungie" once the acquisition crosses the line.

Well, it seems we have no need to worry, according to a senior community manager Dmg04 at least (thanks GamesRadar). Replying to Skill Up's initial tweet, Dmg04 explains that "there will never be a “muzzle” big enough to stop us from standing up for what’s right" and that the studio will "continue to strengthen our pillars and culture" in the future. As Dmg04 points out, he is just a community manager and likely won't have much of a say in what goes on higher up the chain of command.
