Sony is aiming to bring even more PlayStation titles and franchises to the PC and mobile, citing them as major growth opportunities to build the company’s gaming audience.
“By FY 25 (fiscal year 2025), almost half of our new release line up will come from PC and mobile,” Sony Interactive Entertainment President Jim Ryan said in an investors presentation(Opens in a new window).
Over the last two years, Sony has already published three first-party PS4 games on the PC, most notably God of War. These titles helped Sony rake in $80 million in PC net sales for fiscal 2021, which ended in March.

One PlayStation 5 title that might be headed to PCs soon is the sci-fi shooter Returnal, according to a new listing(Opens in a new window) on the Steam store.
Sony’s expansion into PC and mobile will also occur as it invests more in online games and live services. By fiscal 2025, the company plans on operating 12 live service franchises, up from one, MLB The Show 22(Opens in a new window), a baseball title.
“This represents the biggest opportunity, but also the biggest challenge to growing the size of the PlayStation community to something significantly bigger than what we enjoy today,” Ryan said.
To bulk up the company’s game portfolio, Ryan noted that Sony has been “extremely active” in the merger and acquisition space. Back in January, the company announced it was buying Destiny developer Bungie for $3.6 billion.
