Sony has announced that half of its PlayStation exclusive releases will be on PC and mobile devices by 2025. PlayStation is known for its often critically acclaimed first-party exclusive titles such as Ghost of Tsushima and Marvel's Spider-Man. While some games like God of War have already released on PC, there are still plenty of highly-acclaimed PlayStation games locked to Sony's consoles.
PlayStation's history with exclusive games and content is often taken into account by gamers when deciding which console to purchase, and has been one of the main drivers for those who do decide to invest in PlayStation devices. However, in recent years Sony has released several of these exclusives such as the aforementioned God of War, as well as Horizon Zero Dawn and Days Gone, on PC. Sony even released MLB The Show 22 on Nintendo Switch and Xbox Game Pass as a day one launch, bringing what was once a PlayStation exclusive series to rival consoles for the first time earlier this year.

In a recent Sony investor meeting, Sony Interactive Entertainment president Jim Ryan revealed that PlayStation aims to release half of its games on PC by 2025. Ryan explained the company had "restricted [itself] to a rather narrow portion of the gaming market" in the past and that this expansion could be "transformational" to the business. His statements were accompanied by slides showing the growth of PC and mobile games within the PlayStation Studios portfolio, which showed an estimated 50% of its games being made available on those devices by the end of 2025.
