The Broken Sword remaster now has a release date and will be launching on PC and consoles next month, on September 19th, 2024. Titled “Broken Sword – Shadow of the Templars: Reforged” this is an upgrade of the classic adventure game that first debuted on PlayStation and PC almost three decades ago back in 1996.
Claiming to be a “substantial enhancement” over the original game, Reforged will tout 4K visuals as well as improvements to artwork, animations, and audio, all in an effort to modernise the hit point and click adventure. Those feeling a bit rusty (or are maybe completely new to the genre) will also benefit from the game’s new “story mode” feature.
This is said to “dynamically balance narrative and gameplay”, which will hopefully stop players from getting bogged down in some of Broken Sword’s more obtuse puzzles, allowing them to easily progress through the story.
Broken Sword – Shadow of the Templars: Reforged will be available digitally on PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
