Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars is being given a makeover to celebrate the point and click adventure's 25th anniversary. Upgrades to its sounds and visuals will see the game reimagined in 4K, but its creators want to do even more to mark this significant milestone. The first Broken Sword adventure is also getting a physical release in the form of a Collector's Edition, the Kickstarter for the project hitting its $63,000 goal within an hour of the page going live.
In fact, at the time of publication, Broken's Sword's Kickstarter has more than tripled its goal as more than 1,300 fans have pledged a total of $223,000 and counting. That number continues to rise every time I check back, so will have likely risen considerably again by the time you read this. Suffice to say, there are a lot of Broken Sword fans out there, and Revolution Software will likely be shipping a lot of physical copies of the remastered classic in November of this year when the Collector's Edition is expected to ship.
There are three Collector's Edition options available, all available through the link in the box below, two of which come with a physical copy of the game. The cheapest option is the one that doesn't include a physical copy of the game. Just a digital one with the aptly named Digital Collector's Edition, but also a bunch of other exclusive merch and priced at $60. For $130 you can get the regular Collector's Edition, and $255 will get you the Ultimate Collector's Bundle.
Broken Sword - Shadow of the Templars: Reforged is a major update to the original point-and-click adventure, bringing into the modern age with 4K visuals, remastered audio, and fully voice-acted dialogue.
Included with Broken Sword's Collector's Edition is a figurine of the game's lead character George Stobbart, a cloth manuscript, and a USB-C memory stick that quite literally looks like a Broken Sword. The Ultimate Collector's Bundle also includes physical versions of the game's artbook and vinyl soundtrack.
