Brody Jenner was not sad to see The Hills: New Beginnings end and was actually happy about the cancelation. The Hills reboot premiered in 2019 and aired for only two seasons before getting canceled in January 2022. While the show saw the return of popular characters Brody, Audrina Patridge, and controversial classic reality TV couple Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag, the show's original main stars, Lauren Conrad and Kristin Cavallari, did not return. Kristin made a two episode cameo during season 2, but according to Spencer, the rest of the cast didn't know how to keep the show interesting. The original series aired from 2006 through 2010 as a spinoff of Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County and starred Lauren as its main cast member from seasons 1 through 5a and Kristin from seasons 5b through 6.
In May, MTV revealed they would be rebooting the show as The Hills: Next Gen, and it would feature a brand new, younger cast living in Los Angelos and dealing with dating, making it in L.A., and more serious topics like race. The original series featured an all-white cast, and its clear the lack of diversity would not fly in today's society. Upon hearing the news, Audrina admitted she was surprised and a little bitter that MTV didn't want to include her in the show. Kristin sympathized with Audrina and felt it was wrong for MTV to not at least warn the original cast about the reboot. However, both stars agreed that they're not as willing to put their personal lives on TV as they were in their 20s, so they don't have much to offer the show anymore.
