Bridgerton producer Shonda Rhimes has teased the identity of season 3's main character, stating that the next Bridgerton protagonists' identity is a spoiler. The Netflix romantic period drama series follows the Bridgerton family as they navigate the high society lifestyle of Regency-era London. In line with Julia Quinn's original novel series on which the show is based, Bridgerton season 1 was led by Phoebe Dynevor's Daphne Bridgerton, while season 2 follows Jonathan Bailey's Anthony Bridgerton.
In season 1 of the hit Netflix series, Daphne developed a tumultuous romance with renowned bachelor Simon Basset, the Duke of Hastings (Regé-Jean Page). In season 2, Anthony is at the center, as well as his relationship with Simone Ashley and Charithra Chandran's siblings, Kate and Edwina Sharma. Many were disappointed when Page left Bridgerton after season 1, and rumors of a potential season 2 cameo were shut down by Rhimes. Now, Dynevor's Daphne will take on a supportive role for her siblings as the focus shifts from her and Simon's marriage. While each Bridgerton season is expected to follow this pattern and have a different sibling as the main character, Rhimes isn't ready to reveal who will be the focus of Bridgerton season 3 now that season 2 has been released.
