The showrunner of Bridgerton season 2 explains why the finale cuts around the wedding between Anthony and Kate Sharma. Netflix's Regency-era romance series, which premiered its second season on March 25, 2022, follows the love life of different siblings from the Bridgerton family each season. The first season, which won over the hearts of viewers across the globe, saw Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor) fall head over heels for the rakish Simon Basset, Duke of Hastings (Regé-Jean Page). This season, the romantic lead was the eldest son Anthony (Jonathan Bailey), who enters into a torrid love triangle with sisters Kate (Simone Ashley) and Edwina Sharma (Charithra Chandran) when they arrive from India.
In the final episodes of Bridgerton season 2, the love triangle comes to a head. Anthony and Edwina are preparing for their lavish wedding when Edwina realizes that he has been hiding the fact that he loves Kate and cancels the impending nuptials. The finale ends six months after the canceled Edwina/Anthony wedding with Kate and Anthony newly married. The choice not to show the wedding between Kate and Anthony has been a contentious one for audiences who feel that, despite their fiery affair, the opportunity to see Kate and Anthony happy together was skipped over too fast.
