The Channel Sounding feature is aimed at bringing true distance awareness with the help of its ability to calculate distance with high precision. Even if the distance is long, with this new technology, the devices could detect location and achieve centimeter-level accuracy. The benefit of this would be substantial for users could rely more on the given location given its precision and could be expanded to various devices and accessories. Apple is already offering precision-finding capability with the help of Ultra Wideband (UWB) technology for the Find My app, which locates the exact location of a lost accessory.
