BGMI ban: Krafton, publisher of popular online multiplayer battle royale games like Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), announced banning of 66,233 accounts on Tuesday, April 2, 2022. According to the company, the bans are permanent in nature and the blocked accounts will not be allowed back on the platform. Krafton banned the accounts from BGMI between March 28 and April 3rd. One of the major reasons for the ban was unauthorized usage of third-party programs to gain unfair advantage in the game.
Announcing the bans, Krafton said, “Battlegrounds Mobile India will strive to implement strong sanctions with the ultimate goal of eradicating the use of illegal programs in order to provide you a pleasant gaming environment”. Highlighting the need to preserve fairness in the competitive online gaming space, Krafton also highlighted the need to protect players from such cheaters. Krafton has been committed to the idea of fair gaming and has taken similar measures in the past to reduce instances of cheating. Before this, the BGMI publisher issued permanent bans to 22,013 accounts from March 21 to March 27. Prior to that, the company banned 7,057 accounts between the period of March 14 to March 20. BGMI bans have become a necessary tool for the company to exercise fair play in the game.
However, the largest expedition against cheaters was taken by Krafton in January. Between the period of January 24 and February 6, the company permanently banned a total of 171,188 from Battlegrounds Mobile India. So far, the company has banned a total of 5,69,420 accounts overall.
