Now that Hope's humanity is turned back on, it really seems Legacies season 4 has wasted the huge potential of her humanity-off storyline. Most of season 4 has dealt with Hope (Danielle Rose Russell) after her death and resurrection as the Tribrid, focusing on the ramifications of her humanity being switched off after her vampiric transformation. Hope without her humanity was a vastly different Legacies character than the one audiences knew; humanity-off Hope had shades of Klaus in her sociopathic lack of emotion.
But the threat of Tribrid Hope running around with powers but without her humanity was recently usurped by the larger looming threat of the gods. Humanity-off Hope may be a monster, but she's at least a monster that the Super Squad understands and can work with–even if they didn't quite trust her. Hope returning to the Salvatore School and having to atone for all the cruelty she doled out while her humanity was off was ripe for emotional scenes between characters, as well as being a great chance for Legacies season 4 to finally evolve Hope as a character.

Sadly, Legacies season 4 squandered the opportunity for Hope's humanity off/restored story arc to really have an impact. She was almost immediately forgiven by everyone, even Lizzie (Jenny Boyd), who Hope killed and one would expect to have some complicated feelings to sort about it. After one scene of Hope and her dark side going at it at the end of episode 15, her humanity-off dark side was easily vanquished with a spell in Legacies season 4, episode 16, «I Wouldn't Be Standing Here If It Weren't For You.» The odd reaction of the spell hints that Hope isn't fully rid of her dark side yet.
