Better Call Saul season 6 showrunner promises a big mid-season finale cliffhanger. For the first time ever, a season of Better Call Saul is being aired in two halves with a long mid-season break. The first half of season 6 is set to air on AMC on Monday, May 23, with the second half not premiering until July 11.
Of course the first half of Better Call Saul season 6 has already seen its fair share of monumental story developments. Obviously no development was bigger than the death of Nacho, who shot himself rather than be killed by Hector Salamanca and the Cousins. Besides Nacho’s tragic demise, the first run of Better Call Saul season 6 episodes has largely been taken up byJimmy and Kim’s plan to take down Howard Hamlin, using an elaborate scheme to frame Howard as an unhinged drug user in the eyes of Clifford Main. All this scheming by Jimmy and Kim of course comes with Lalo still alive and plotting an elaborate revenge against Gus Fring.

It remains to be seen how the various plot-lines from the first half of Better Call Saul season 6 ultimately play out. But it appears fans are in for a very big cliffhanger in the first half finale two episodes hence on May 23, as teased by showrunner Peter Gould. Speaking to TVLine, Gould said:
“This is a big one. I think this is going to be a painful few weeks for a few people to find out what happens. Hopefully, people will enjoy the pain and not come after us with torches.”
It appears however that this big and potentially painful mid-season 6 cliffhanger was not originally in the cards when Better Call Saul’s final run of episodes was being written. According to Gould, he and the writers had no idea
