Ben Starr, who plays Clive in Final Fantasy 16, has joined fans in calling for another Final Fantasy Tactics game. Speaking with TheGamer at the BAFTA Games Awards this week, Starr says that the Tactics games are "iconic", and that it's "absolutely time" for another sequel.
This comes shortly after series director Naoki Yoshida also said that it's "probably about time" that Square Enix works on another Tactics game. Starr admits that he's often asked if another Tactics entry is in the works too, showing that fans certainly haven't forgotten about the series.
"All I've heard over the past year is 'When's Tactics?," says Starr, speaking with our Lead Guides Editor, Meg Pelliccio. "I would love it. Absolutely, it's time for Tactics."
He continues, praising the previous entries:
These games have the ability to tell stories in ways that a game like Final Fantasy 16 doesn't, and I think that people really want to see that. It's absolutely time for it. They're such iconic entries. Let's go for more.
Starr is a known fan of the Final Fantasy series, even before he got the role of Clive in Final Fantasy 16. So, it's no surprise that he's among those calling for a new Tactics game, a prospect that excited the fanbase when Naoki Yoshida, also known as Yoshi-P, brought up the possibility in a previous interview with TheGamer.
Yoshi-P and others from Square Enix told our specialist Gabrielle Castania that they'd be up for another Tactics game.
"We have a lot of our staff who worked on previous games like Final Fantasy Tactics or Final Fantasy 12, so you’re going to have a lot of that [Tactics] feel because a lot of the same people are on the team," said Yoshi-P. "We love Tactics as well. It’s probably about time that we do a new one."
We'll have to wait and see if these teases amount to anything. But at the very least, it's clear that the folks over at Square Enix - and even the actors that appear in the games - are aware that fans really want another Final
