The Bayonetta series is infamous for the protagonist's clothes vanishing when she performs special attacks.
Bayonetta's outfits are actually composed of her hair, which is altered through the use of magic to look like form-fitting clothes. When Bayonetta performs a summoning spell, she needs to use her hair as a conduit, causing it to temporarily vanish. This is why more and more of Bayonetta's clothes disappear when she summons powerful beings, as more is needed to maintain the spell. That is the only reason why Bayonetta's clothes vanish in battle and it has nothing to do with fanservice or anything like that. Hair magic just removes clothes.
