Electronic Arts has detailed Battlefield 2042’s latest update ahead of its release this Tuesday, August 2.
Arriving just over halfway through Battlefield 2042 Season 1, update 1.2 features the first in a series of reworks planned for the game’s launch maps.
“Kaleidoscope has been reworked to offer an improved gameplay flow through new cover assets, flag positions, terrain elevations and visual updates to several locations on the map,” according to developer DICE.
The update also features the initial style and tone changes for some of the game’s Specialists, which includes several updated character models.
Following the update, a player profile and statistics page will be available in-game too, providing an overview of the player’s performance and progression since launch.
Elsewhere, the power of the RAH-68 Huron and YG-99 Hannibal 30mm Cannon has been reduced by making it overheat much faster, and aim assist on controllers has been adjusted to make it feel smoother and more consistent when tracking moving targets.
The patch notes offer more detailed information about the new features, plus a full list of fixes, balance changes and quality of life improvements included in the update.
Battlefield 2042’s next update is scheduled to arrive with Season 2, with more details to be shared later this month.
DICE’s new general manager recently said the studio has “no time” to pursue non-Battlefield projects as it looks to establish itself as a leading developer in the FPS market.
