His aesthetic is perfect for the Arrowverse, where the tie-in comics for the CW television shows have already revealed a Batwoman Beyond. Further, the path to introducing Terry McGinnis’s fantastic hero has already been paved, as each medium had storylines focused on roughly the same time period that Batman Beyond takes place in, give or take a decade or two.
Batman Beyond originally took flight in a fan-favorite animated spinoff to the beloved Batman: The Animated Series. The show revealed that, when an older Bruce Wayne finally lost his step in 2039, there was an entirely new character waiting in the wings to defend Neo-Gotham, given that various Robins failed to be Batman's true successor. Instead, it was a stranger who used the high-tech suit the Caped Crusader had developed to augment his abilities and extend his crimefighting career. Though Terry McGinnis stole this technology to pursue his father’s killer, Wayne recognized the younger man’s moxie and became his begrudging mentor. The popularity of this future version of Batman and his evolved suit eventually led to McGinnis getting his own comics series and unique place in Batman lore.
