Publisher THQ Nordic concluded its digital showcase on Friday by confirming it’s working on the next South Park video game.
The live stream ended with the South Park Digital Studios logo, alongside a snippet of audio from a character from the long-running comedy show.
South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone confirmed almost exactly a year ago that they were working on a new “3D video game”, which was said to be in development at their in-house studio.
The previous two South Park video games, The Stick of Truth (2014) and The Fractured but Whole (2017), were developed in collaboration with Ubisoft. The latter was created by The Outer Worlds developer Obsidian.
The two games were well received and currently have Metacritic scores of up to 85 and 84.
South Park: The Stick of Truth was due to be published by the original THQ, before it went bankrupt and the project was picked up by Ubisoft.
South Park Digital Studios has collaborated on various video game projects in addition to the aforementioned RPGs.
In 2017 it released the mobile title Phone Destroyer, which followed up 2014’s South Park Pinball and Xbox Live Arcade titles Let’s Go Tower Defense Play! And Tenorman’s Revenge.
