The CIA is no stranger to technologically advanced toys. It's a consistent theme in cinema and in real life as well. Well, now the CIA is jumping into the AI pool with its own chatbot.
Once the tool is completed, the CIA intends to share it with the 18 other US intelligence agencies to help sift through the ever-increasing amount of data that people produce. It will not be available to the public (or even lawmakers), for obvious reasons.
According to Bloomberg, the CIA intends to train the AI tool on publicly available data, though it didn't say which underlying technology it will tap into, or how it will stop the data from popping up on the open internet (which has happened several times just this year).
The CIA's AI chatbot is part of a larger US government push to harness the powers of AI as rivals like China seek to do the same, the CIA tells Bloomberg.
If you want to check it out, the CIA currently has job postings up for AI specialists with a specialization in deep learning, multi-agent systems, and mixed-initiative human-machine teaming, among other things.
