Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden Banished from 2023 to Avoid Tidal Wave of Releases | Push Square

We all know it — the video game release schedule for the rest of 2023 is pretty ridiculous. So much so, that we've already seen one or two notable games shifting around in order to avoid clashing with others; take Alan Wake 2, for example. Well, another game is venturing even further out to get away from the hustle and bustle. Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden is delayed into 2024.

Coming from developer Don't Nod and publisher Focus Entertainment, this is the promising-looking action adventure about a pair of spirit hunters — one dead and one alive — as they cross the land to lift a curse. It recently got a gameplay overview video, and it looks like it could be pretty good. Initially scheduled in for November this year, the game will now launch on 13th February, 2024:

«With so many unforgettable games in 2023, it's important that each of them shines brightly,» the statement reads. «Though finished and set for release, we want Red and Antea's story to get the spotlight it deserves. As a result, with our publisher Focus Entertainment, we took the decision to postpone its release on PCs & Consoles to February 13, 2024. A perfect date for an epic love story!»

So, the game is pretty much ready to roll, but this delay is primarily a matter of releasing at a better time. While early 2024 is also looking pretty stacked, it's better than going up against the pre-holiday juggernauts like Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and the aforementioned Alan Wake 2.
