Baldur's Gate 3's New Patch Has Made Bing Bong Canon

Baldur's Gate 3's latest patch is an absolute whopper, coming in at 30GB and including features such as the ability to hide required dice rolls, an alternate Minthara recruitment method, and a whole new epilogue set 6 months after the events of the main campaign. None of that is as important as the discovery we're focusing on here, as someone has discovered that Larian has made legendary community icon Bing Bong canon in Baldur's Gate 3.

First discovered and shared on the Baldur's Gate 3 subreddit by user Wew-lad-, a picture of the player character and Shadowheart show the two talking about the exploits they've experienced together on their travels, presumably during the six months of time between the end of the game and the epilogue. Shadowheart mentions that during their time together, they encountered a stray imp called Bing Bong that joined them, making the character canon.

If you're sitting there wondering who the heck Bing Bong actually is, this part's for you. Earlier this year, the Baldur's Gate 3 cast took part in a one-shot D&D campaign, roleplaying as their characters over the course of two streams for High Rollers. During that campaign, Jennifer English (Shadowheart) convinced the party to adopt an imp called Bing Bong who immediately became a fan favorite character, spawning all kinds of memes and fan art.
