Baldur's Gate 3 Fans Discover What Happens If You Ignore Astarion In Act 1
Oh, Astarion, you either love him - and I mean, really really love him - or hate him. A Baldur's Gate 3 companion that not only introduces himself with a knife to the throat but also tries to drink your blood after about 24 hours together is always going to be a bit marmite. So much so, that some fans might opt to just ignore him altogether, walking right past the rogue when you're meant to encounter him.
As you might expect, this hardly ends well for the vampire - but it's actually worse than you might expect. Far from just struggling to survive out in the world on his own, he actually ends up back in the hands of his old master, Cazador. Surprise, surprise, he doesn't come out of that reunion alive.

TikTok user Sol did the dirty work for us, simply walking past the area that would normally trigger Astarion's introductory cutscene. Others have said you can do this and still recruit him as late as Act 2, so you'll have to make sure you don't accidentally walk into his line of sight for a while. But as long as you manage that, you can just charge into Cazador's lair without him, killing the vampire that turned Astarion in the first place. He's a right bastard, after all.
At first, it seems like nothing's changed. But then, Sol found a pile of bones named "Zombie Astarion". Cazador wasn't very impressed with Astarion's little road trip then, it seems, and simply used him to build his own power.
