In the midst of all the hype surrounding a couple of new electric scooter launches, especially the Ola S1 Pro, Ather was quietly working on a big update for its popular electric scooter – the Ather 450X. And after months of development, the Ather 450X Gen 3 will be revealed to the world via an online launch event later today. The new model is expected to bring certain upgrades to some key areas, which is most likely to be the battery capacity and a couple of other performance related parameters. Ather is yet to reveal anything on this front.
If you are an Ather fan, or are in the market for a fast electric scooter, you should keep an eye on all the announcements made at today’s launch event. Ather has remained tight-lipped on the features of the Ather 450x Gen 3 model but rumours surrounding the new model suggest the changes could be mostly under the skin. The update could help Ather fight off the much hyped and popular Ola S1 Pro scooter.
With the Ather 450X Gen 3 model, it is expected that the scooter will get a big boost to its range. That could happen with a bigger battery pack. The current model features a 2.9 kWh battery pack and the newer version is expected to have a bigger 3.66 kWh battery pack. This should help the new 450X deliver a range of almost 145 Kms, which could put it on par with the Ola S1 Pro. In comparison, the current model can only go up to 116 Kms.
Rumours also suggest that Ather 450X Gen 3 scooter will come with new driving modes to enhance the range. The Warp mode is expected to remain unchanged on the new model and Ather could come up with a more power efficient eco mode similar to the one on the Ola S1 Pro. Hence, it could cripple the performance of the scooter to enhance the overall range.
