Arida: Backland’s Awakening is a game set in the backlands of Brazil in the 19th century. It looks pretty darn cool, and it’s set to launch on Android next month. So that’s exciting.
You play as a young girl named Cicera, and have to navigate through a drought-blighted region, surviving and adventuring as you go. It’s already been out on home systems for a year or so.
You’re going to have to gather resources and discover clues if you want to survive. And we imagine you will want to survive, because it’d be kinda weird if you didn’t. Here’s a trailer.
There’s an interesting story that underpins all the machete-sharpening and tool choosing, and the game shines a light on a part of the world that’s not usually represented in gaming.
When the game launches next month – on June 15th to be precise – it’ll be a premium release that’ll set you back $2.00. Which sounds like an absolute bargain to us.
