Tetsuya Nomura has confirmed that news about Final Fantasy 7's 25th anniversary will be released in June.
2022 marks the 25th anniversary of Final Fantasy 7 and, aside from a few unique items within Final Fantasy 7: The First Soldier, we haven't seen or heard much to get excited about, despite Square Enix acknowledging the anniversary with its own key art. Many assumed that something bigger must be on the way, something that Tetsuya Nomura might have just confirmed.

As pointed out by ResetEra user Xenosaga, Nomura took part in a half-anniversary livestream for Final Fantasy 7: The First Soldier. Towards the end of the livestream, Nomura confirmed that Square Enix is planning on revealing news for the 25th anniversary next month. Nomura didn't reveal what type of news to expect or whether it was going to be big, but we now know that something is going to happen in June.
The biggest bit of news that could come from Final Fantasy 7's 25th anniversary is some sort of reveal for Final Fantasy 7 Remake: Part 2. We know it's coming, but we've seen nothing from it so far. Releasing a piece of key art or even just outright revealing the game would be a big move, although it seems a little unlikely that Square would want to push the second part of Remake before it started advertising Final Fantasy 16 again.
Another likely possibility for Final Fantasy 7 related news is Final Fantasy 7: Ever Crisis, the mobile game that was revealed last year that covers pretty much everything within the universe of Final Fantasy 7. We were told that it was launching in 2022 when it was first revealed, so that seems very likely to show up.
