We could be hearing more about Square Enix’s plans for Final Fantasy VII fairly soon. Final Fantasy VII Remake director Tetsuya Nomura says that some FFVII news is in store for next month.

During a Japanese-language livestream about battle royale Final Fantasy VII: The First Soldier, Nomura said news is on the way regarding the 25th anniversary of Final Fantasy VII for June, next month. (Translation via VGC and @aitaikimochi on Twitter.) The comment doesn’t seem to have any more specifics, in terms of what this means related to Final Fantasy VII.

Hopes would be high that this signals some news about Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 2, but there could also be other projects in the works.

The first installment of Final Fantasy VII Remake landed in 2020, after a long wait for its eventual drop. And the interstitial update Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade landed a year later, adding some extra Yuffie content to the fold.
