PlayStation Plus Premium has now launched in Asia, meaning that the rest of the world has an opportunity to unearth exactly what the service is all about. It offers a number of downloadable titles from several console generations, some of which are still current service experiences, while others are designed to delve deep into our collective wells of nostalgia.
While the full selection of backward compatible titles is a bit underwhelming, there are still a selection of bangers across the service that are set to be expanded upon in the coming months as this rival to Nintendo Switch Online and Xbox Game Pass begins to find its feet. I still have reservations about the whole affair, and have said in the past how rushed its construction feels in the grand scheme of things, but one small feature has me so excited.

As leaks in recent days have suggested, classic PlayStation games now have native trophy support. Their inclusion is down to each individual developer to enable instead of being a widespread mandatory aspect of the software, so our mileage will vary, but having so many classics updated with a modern feature that encourages replayability is awesome to see.
Back in the PS3 generation, Sony was far more willing to enable backward compatibility. One model of the original console played PS1 and PS2 discs, essentially making it the ultimate PlayStation machine until it was phased out to cut costs. Now, only PS1 discs would play ball, while PS2 games would remain neglected until digital versions of select ones began to emerge on digital storefronts.
