Apple is gearing to announce a boatload of new upgrades in 2024, with the new iPads and Macs slated to bring noticeable improvements. Apple debuted its M3 chip last year with the new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models. However, the company is working to introduce new Macs with even more powerful variants of the M3 chip. A prominent analyst claims that Apple will introduce the next-generation Mac Pro and Mac Studio with upgraded M3 chips later this year.
In his latest Power On newsletter, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman states that the company is working to upgrade the Mac Pro and Mac Studio, which are slated to launch later this year. The company will potentially introduce the most powerful variants of the M3 chip alongside the new Macs at its WWDC 2024 event. Gurman details that the Mac Pro and Mac Studio will house the unannounced variant of the M3 chip.
The new chip will possibly house double the number of cores of the M3 Max, with up to 32 CPU cores and a whopping 80 GPU cores. While the M3 chip is a significant upgrade over the M2 chip, it remains to be seen how the forthcoming M3 Ultra will compare against the M3 Max. It was recently reported that Apple plans to launch the new Mac Studio with an M3 Ultra chip at its WWDC event in June. The company announced the M2 Ultra last year at its WWDC event, which means it is highly likely that Apple will introduce the M3 Ultra variant at its developer event.
Gurman notes that the company has already started working on its forthcoming products. However, the analyst did not share details on the design and form factor of the two machines.
