Sega is planning to release a new Sonic the Hedgehog game next year, in addition to DLC for the upcoming Superstars.
That’s according to an alleged planning document originally shared on Reddit (but since removed), which features a supposed timeline for Sega’s upcoming Sonic products.
According to the document, the upcoming Knuckles TV show will release in Q1 2024, followed by a third season of Netflix show Sonic Prime in the same quarter.
Sonic Superstars DLC is listed as “TBD” during the year, and a “new game” is listed for release during the holiday season.
If true, a 2024 Sonic game would put the series on a three-year run of major releases, following Superstars (2023) and last year’s Frontiers.

Sonic Superstars is a 2.5D side-scrolling platformer which lets players control either Sonic, Tails, Knuckles or Amy Rose.
The game, which is due for release on October 17, is developed by Arzest, the Japanese studio run by the mascot’s original creator Naoto Ohshima.
In VGC’s Sonic Superstars review, we called the game “the Sonic 4 fans deserve”.
“If you treat Sonic Mania as something of a remix project, then Sonic Superstars feels the closest we’ve come to a completely new Mega Drive / Genesis era Sonic game since Sonic & Knuckles.
“It’s short and not all of its (optional) gimmicks are great, but where it matters – the look, the sound, the physics – it absolutely nails that early ‘90s feeling.”
