Each month, there are new bugs, fish, sea creatures, events, and items in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Events are generally available in both hemispheres, but some of the other content that's added monthly is specific to one location. The creatures and seasonal items will be different for the northern and southern hemispheres. For example, Summer Shells and DIY recipes are available in the northern hemisphere, and Snowflakes can be collected and crafted with in the southern hemisphere.
There are a lot of creatures available from previous months, including all of the new critters added in July 2022 in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. The NookPhone can be used to check the active times for any bug, fish, or sea creature. After opening the NookPhone, players will need to navigate to the Critterpedia, then look through the different creatures to check what's available.

Throughout the month, there are items available for a limited time. Players can catch the new bugs, fish, and sea creatures to earn Bells and purchase the items while they're available on the Nook Shopping app. There aren't a lot of new creatures coming in August, but players will still be able to catch some valuable critters to earn Bells.
Both the northern and southern hemispheres in Animal Crossing: New Horizons are getting new bugs in August, but there are only a few being added. The new bugs all sell for relatively low prices, but they're all available for a good portion of the day. There are also bugs available from previous months that can be sold for high prices at Nook's Cranny.
