It's been nearly a decade since the last Dead Space game released, and fans have been hungry for a new entry in the sci-fi survival-horror series. While EA is busy working on the Dead Space remake, Dead Space creator Glen Schofield is making a spiritual successor of sorts at Striking Distance Studios called The Callisto Protocol. Horror fans will have to wait until next year to play the Dead Space remake, but The Callisto Protocol is scheduled to launch at the end of 2022.
The Callisto Protocol release date is currently pegged for December 2, with the game aiming for release across PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. When The Callisto Protocol launches, it will throw players into a terrifying sci-fi horror world where they will have to contend with all kinds of horrific monstrosities. Director Glen Schofield recently took to Twitter to show off one such monster that The Callisto Protocol players will find themselves up against in the game.
The Callisto Protocol Shows Off New Gameplay Footage
In a recent tweet, Schofield showed off a new Callisto Protocol enemy called The Blind. This grotesque, humanoid creature has no eyes, but it does have tentacles growing from its body. Schofield says that this particular enemy has adapted to the dark, meaning players can expect to run into this thing when exploring The Callisto Protocol's more dimly-lit areas.
The Callisto Protocol gameplay trailers present the game as a new take on the Dead Space formula, with players exploring far-future, sci-fi location in third-person, contending with monsters and other hazards.
