AMD has just unveiled its Ryzen AI 9 HX 375 "Strix" APU which is the fastest AI SOC to date with a powerful NPU, offering up to 55 TOPS.
The AMD Ryzen AI 300 "Strix" APUs will be launching later this week and as we prep for the launch, it looks like AMD has added a new SKU to its family, the Ryzen AI 9 HX 375. On paper, the Ryzen AI 9 HX 375 APU features a similar configuration as the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 but there's one area where it excels and that's its AI performance.
Starting with the specifications, the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 375 "Strix" APU features 12 cores (4 Zen 5 + 8 Zen 5C), 16 threads, 24 MB of L3 cache, and 12 MB of L2 cache. The chip has a base clock of 2.00 GHz and a boost clock of 5.10 GHz. It comes with a similar TDP range which is set to 28W (Default) and can be configured between 15 to 54W.
For the graphics side, the APU features the AMD Radeon 890M iGPU with 16 compute units clocked at 2900 MHz. We would have loved to see a 3.0 GHz iGPU variant for this one but I guess we have to wait a bit for Strix Halo to achieve those clocks or we will do it manually since the CPU and GPU does support tuning.
Now coming to the NPU side, the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 375 "Strix" APU comes with the same XDNA 2 "Ryzen AI" engine but clocks things up a bit to achieve a record 55 AI TOPS. This is 10% more TOPS than the standard Strix chips which top out at 50 TOPS, 15% faster than Intel's Lunar Lake (48 TOPS NPU), and 22% faster than Qualcomm's Snapdragon X Elite (45 TOPS NPU). This makes the NPU on Strix APUs the fastest one available yet but Intel still leads in terms of total platform TOPS.
