They can easily be adjusted, either at the beginning of a new save file or in the middle of the game, by navigating to the Settings menu and choosing the Gameplay category. There are many aspects to the game, however, and adjusting its difficulty isn't always as straightforward as the average action-adventure game. Most games' difficulty settings alter the player's HP, the enemies' HP, either side's damage, or the quality of items provided. But is a little different. Besides the five main Challenge Ratings, there are more adjustable sliders for different gameplay elements.
Each of the five difficulty modes in is named after a particular moniker or descriptor that's been tacked onto Spider-Man's name throughout the years. Ostensibly ordered from easiest to hardest, those are: Friendly Neighborhood, Friendly, Amazing, Spectacular, and Ultimate. Here's what each of those entails, and which one is the best one-size fits all choice for most players.
Friendly Neighborhood is by far the easiest difficulty option in. In it, enemies do less damage and have less HP, even during 's toughest boss fights. They may also gather in smaller numbers during some large-scale battles. It's also significantly easier to pass by enemies unnoticed when in stealth mode. By default, Friendly Neighborhood also turns on the Chase Assist option. This allows players to center the camera on a pursued target at any point by pressing R3, and will cause Spider-Man to attach to it automatically as soon as he gets close enough.
Friendly Neighborhood mode also has one unique feature among all the available difficulty levels: it makes Spider-Man almost totally invincible, unable to be knocked
