For anyone who has played a game that allows PC players to be put up against console players, they know the trials and tribulations that come with console controllers aim assist against those on PC. The Finals developers have decided to take those trials to heart, and nerfed the controllers' aim assist to make the game slightly more fair.
People who play The Finals have voiced their opinion on the use of controller aim assist within matches quite loudly for the developers to hear. In a recent X post, the devs posted an image showcasing all of the changes coming to the aim assist system, such as Zoom Snapping Angular Velocity having a cap, which will completely prevent “unintended rapid 90-degree turns”.
Camera Magnetism has also been reduced from 50% to 35% which will in turn make the players aim less “sticky”, which basically means players have less of a chance to lock directly onto a target player's head by simply using aim assist. Zoom Snapping has also been removed from several guns in-game including the SR-84 Sniper Rifle, Revolver, LH1, and all Shotguns since these weapons are significantly buffed by the Zoom Snapping.
Though many games allow this type of stuff to slide on by without a second thought, it's nice to see aim assist getting a bit of an overhaul. Maybe someday, more game developers will also implement these changes to make the games a bit fairer overall.
