ADATA & XPG showcased a range of Gen5 NVMe SSDs and blistering fast DDR5 memory kits at its Computex 2023 booth.
Some of the most fun products that ADATA & XPG showcased were the actively cooled Gen5 NVMe SSDs and the faster DDR5 memory modules. Starting with the Project NeoStorm Gen5 M.2 SSD, the product is designed to support the latest Gen 5x4 interface and deliver speeds of up to 14 GB/s and 12 GB/s (Read/Write). The SSD makes use of a dual-fan cooling system that dissipates heat from the sides of the heatsink. The internal houses the SSD that sits beneath an extruded aluminum body & also features a built-in water cooling system.
The water-cooling itself is encased within an acrylic block which utilizes a coolant to absorb heat from the aluminum alloy tube that sits between the casing. There are also two thermal gaskets around the main SSD (top and bottom) which minimize contact thermal resistance between the heat source and cooling device.
Adata / XPG states that this solution delivers 20% better heat dissipation than competing water-cooled SSDs. The SSD itself makes use of a Silicon Motion SM2508 Controller and offers up to 2 Million 4K Random read/write IOPs. The drive is expected to hit retail next year and will come in up to 8 TB capacities.
The second Gen5 NVMe SSD solutions on display are the LEGENDD 970 which is a Phison E26-based drive with speeds of up to 10 GB/s. This drive has a fanless heatsink which is said to offer 18% better heat dissipation than comparable passive designs. The drive will offer up to 1.4M 4K Random Read/Write performance with capacities of 1 TB and 2 TB. Unlike the NeoStorm, these SSDs will become available in July 2023.
In addition to the Gen5 SSDs, XPG also showcased its brand-new CASTER
