Adam McKay Produced Horror Movie Breeders Casts Olivia Cooke
Olivia Cooke is set to headline Breeders, a new horror film from producer Adam McKay. Breeders is based on an original idea from McKay and Brian Steele, with Steele penning the screenplay. McKay originally made a name for himself writing and directing comedy, making movies like Anchorman and Step Brothers, before venturing into political satire with the likes of Best Picture Oscar nominee Don't Look Up. And while McKay is producing Breeders alongside Todd Schulman, plot details are still under wraps, with the studio keeping the logline a secret for the time being. However, McKay has seen great success as a producer, working on Winning Time and Succession.
As announced by Lionsgate, Breeders has officially cast Cooke in a lead role. The actor will be working with Kelsey Bollig, who is set to direct the film. Breeders will serve as Bollig's feature film directorial debut after she made a splash at several festivals with her short films Kickstart My Heart and The Fourth Wall.

Cooke has seen her career blossom over the last decade, gaining traction with the 2015 drama Me and Earl and the Dying Girl. She later appeared in Steven Speilberg's 2018 book adaptation of Ready Player One and 2019's Academy Award Best Picture nominee Sound of Metal alongside Riz Ahmed. And in addition to Breeders on the horizon, Cooke will appear in the highly anticipated upcoming Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon. Further details on Breeders, including a plot and additional casting, are sure to be forthcoming as the project develops, but it adds to Cooke's already impressive and varied acting credits.
