Guns and gods collide in Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn, from Ashen developer A44 Games. We got a new trailer giving us a good look at combat and learned the game currently has a Summer 2024 release on PS5 and PS4 lined up.
The story follows Nor Vanek, a soldier in a coalition army fighting for survival against a ravenous hordeof the dead, brought to life by fell gods. With Enki, a mysterious magical creature, as her guide, the two will explore a dangerous open world, flying through the desert sands. They will need to reassemble the legendary Blackstream trappers, a crack team of explosives and weaponry experts whose expertise will be required in the last siege against the gods themselves.
Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn looks to be influenced by the «flintlock fantasy» subgenre of fiction, which often fuses fantasy elements like magic and dragons with Napoleonic-era weaponry, like muskets and cannons. It's not something you see very often, and thus quite refreshing. Greedfall is perhaps the most high-profile example we can think of, as even The Order 1886's level of technology is too advanced to really qualify.
