A remake of Need for Speed: Most Wanted is coming next year, a voice actor has claimed.
In a since-deleted social media post (which you can read below), Simone Bailly, who voiced a character in the original game, claimed that a remake is in the works and due to be released in 2024.
In the post, Bailly tagged Criterion Games, seemingly suggesting the EA studio is involved in the project.
It’s worth noting that Bailly is likely referring to the 2005 Need for Speed: Most Wanted (in which she appeared), not the version that was released in 2012.
Developed by EA Canada and the now defunct EA Black Box, the 2005 game was released for PS2, Xbox, GameCube, Nintendo DS, PC, Game Boy Advance and Xbox 360. A spin-off, Need for Speed: Most Wanted 5-1-0, was released for PSP in the same year.
EA announced in February 2020 that it had handed Need for Speed development duties back to Criterion Games as it planned to restructure Ghost Games, which had made the previous four entries in the racing series.
Guildford, England-based Criterion is best known for the Burnout series and had also developed two previous Need for Speed titles: 2010’s Hot Pursuit and 2012’s Most Wanted.
It was responsible for last year’s Need for Speed Unbound. Following the game’s release, five senior Criterion developers including former GM Matt Webster left the company to form a new studio.
Stellar Entertainment developed 2020’s Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered.
